Daviess County Court Calendars Explained
Two state trial courts sit at the courthouse in Washington. Circuit answers to the code 14C01. It handles probate, family, juvenile, guardianship, foreclosure, protective-order, and small-claims matters under the local assignment rule. Superior is coded 14D01. It takes nearly every criminal, infraction, and ordinance case. Other civil filings may land in either court. Indiana publishes no separate static Daviess daily-calendar download. For the public, the working calendar is the event list inside Indiana MyCase. The court offices themselves back it up. One calendar line is a single event in a docket. It is not the whole file. Settings get added after filing and can be changed by a later order. The newest authorized entry is the one that controls.
Daviess Criminal Arraignment Times
Recurring criminal sessions are posted on the county's Daviess Court Times page. Misdemeanor arraignments generally run Monday at 1:00 p.m. Felony arraignments generally run Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Those are standing sessions, though, not a promise that any named case will be heard at that hour. A specific docket can carry a different setting because of an order, a holiday, custody status, or a reset. The official page also lists courthouse hours and warns that severe weather can shut the building. Read the individual docket, then confirm with Superior Court. The official recurring-times page sets out these details.

It gives a useful local baseline. For any single hearing, though, the case docket still beats it.
Finding Your Court Date
Use every channel available when a date is unclear. MyCase is the fastest public route. The Clerk can help you locate the record, and Circuit or Superior staff can answer schedule questions. An attorney may hold a filed order or direct notice as well.
- Open MyCase and select the Case, Name, or Attorney tab.
- Choose Daviess County, narrow the category, and enter the cause number or party information.
- Open the matching case and read the newest event or order that sets a hearing.
- Match the court code, date, time, event type, and any location note.
- If entries conflict, call the Clerk or named court office before appearing. Check courthouse postings on arrival.
The county courts page sends case questions and copy requests to the Clerk or the court. The Clerk sits at 200 East Walnut Street, Washington, Indiana 47501. Published hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The phone is 812-254-8670. One limit applies. Court staff cannot give legal advice or discuss a case privately with a judge.
Daviess Date Fields That Differ
MyCase dates do different jobs. In Advanced Search, the From and To boxes filter by file date, never by hearing date. A cause number often carries a YYMM filing segment too. That segment is not the day you appear.
- File date
- The day the case entered the court system.
- Event date
- The day a filing, order, hearing, or other action occurred or is scheduled.
- Setting
- A reserved date and time for a court event.
- Continuance
- An order moving a proceeding to a later date.
- Disposition
- The recorded resolution of a claim, charge, or case stage.
Consider 14D01-YYMM-IF-#####. It identifies county, court, filing period, and case type. It is not a calendar notice.
How to Read a Court Setting
Read the full setting line plus the events around it. A hearing label shows what is planned. A later order can change it, so always check for the latest entry. The court identifier matters too. Circuit and Superior handle different streams on separate schedules.
| Date | The scheduled day; compare it with any later continuance or closure. |
|---|---|
| Time | The time to appear, which may differ from a general docket call. |
| Courtroom | The assigned room or courthouse location when listed. |
| Judge | The judicial officer assigned to the event; reassignment can occur. |
| Setting type | The purpose, such as initial hearing, pretrial, mediation, final hearing, or trial. |
An arraignment is not a trial. A pretrial conference manages the case, while a final hearing can resolve a civil or family issue. For context, rely on the event text and the latest order.
Daviess Court Codes Route Settings
The court code tells you which office owns the schedule. Circuit is 14C01 and Superior is 14D01. The old 14E01 Daviess County Court is abolished, so a historic entry does not point to a third current court.
| Code | Status | Typical calendar stream |
|---|---|---|
| 14C01 | Circuit Court | Family, probate, juvenile, small claims, and assigned matters |
| 14D01 | Superior Court | Criminal, infractions, ordinances, and assigned civil matters |
| 14E01 | Abolished | Historical Odyssey material where retained |
The official Odyssey court list records the December 2, 2019 Daviess launch and marks 14E01 abolished. Older cases may need research at the Clerk's office.
Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations
A continuance moves a hearing by order. A reset puts a new setting on the docket. A cancellation removes an event or session. By itself it does not mean the case was dismissed. Severe weather can also wipe out a courthouse day. Compare entries by date and authority. An early notice can stay visible after a later order changed the setting. MyCase can contain converted events and is not the official record. Check the Circuit Court or Superior Court office that matches the code. One caution on getting help: ex parte contact is not schedule help. Ex parte means talking to the judge about a pending matter without the other side present. Both court pages warn against it. Ask staff for public schedule facts or use the formal court process.
Daviess Calendar Data in Context
Do not judge Daviess calendar volume from one busy morning. Indiana trial courts report their activity quarterly. The trial and probation statistics hub notes the 2025 provisional data was updated August 3, 2026 and links the 2024 reports. The official statistics source is preserved below.

Those reports count filings and dispositions under fixed methods. They do not list tomorrow's hearings. In the 2025 weighted measures, Circuit showed 1.13 judicial need, 1.30 officers, and 0.87 utilization, while Superior showed 1.00 need, 1.00 officer, and 1.00 utilization. Need estimates staffing for new filings. It is not a pending-hearing count. The state definition source appears here.

This distinction keeps workload figures separate from the live calendar.
If You Miss a Court Setting
Move fast after a missed Daviess County hearing. Look in MyCase for any new court date on the docket. Reach out to your lawyer. Call the office listed in the cause number. Waiting for a new date to appear on its own is a mistake; nothing issues automatically. The court's order and the type of case decide what happens next.
Missed a setting? A missed criminal or infraction appearance may lead to a failure-to-appear entry or other court action.
Contact the proper court or counsel promptly, confirm the docket status, and follow formal instructions.
Only a licensed attorney can advise what response fits a specific case.
Just because MyCase shows no event does not mean your duty is gone. An order or notice still controls. The online docket can also lag, and it may leave out protected details.
Older Daviess Calendar Records
Hearing entries from years past often never make it online. Daviess County joined Odyssey in 2019. Docket data before that switch lives elsewhere. Fire struck the courthouse three times, in 1891, 1927, and 1985. Each fire took a share of the records. What survived may sit in Clerk books or on State Library microfilm.
For those older court records, the county's genealogy request route is the place to start. That office takes written requests by mail or in person. It helps to send names, dates, and any details that narrow the search.

That route works for old records only. It cannot confirm a hearing you must attend this week. For a live court date, trust MyCase and the court office.
Daviess Notices and Filed Orders
A notice that comes in the mail can hold more than the short label MyCase shows. The same goes for a scheduling order on file. Keep it with your case papers. Then check its cause number, court code, event type, date, and time against the online docket entry. A later order may move your Daviess County court date. That later court action is the one to follow.
Do not toss an older notice while a change is still in question. If the sequence confuses you, call the office for 14C01 Circuit or 14D01 Superior and ask about the public schedule. Staff there cannot tell you how to respond. They can sort out which entry is the current setting, though, and which one is past or canceled.
